ADVENTURE OVERVIEW

In our opinion, the best way to experience the Pacuare River is our 2-Night / 3-Day Adventure. This world-famous river is worth spending a few days on and the POC lodge we know you will be glad you stayed two nights instead of one.

The POC 2-Night Pacuare trip will have you immersed in the jungle for two full days of rafting, a full day of zipline, Tarzan swing, and hiking to waterfalls,  and two evenings to enjoy the views at the POC Lodge.

This is our most popular adventure and we feel it is the perfect blend of adventure, a little relaxation, and a chance to really disconnect

This trip involves class III & IV rafting, meaning you will wet and there is a chance you can fall out of the raft.

Our age limit is 12 but you can contact us for options with younger children (Extra Guide depending on water level).

There is a 10-minute hike to our lodge. It is steep but maintained well with stairs. The hike makes our view the best of any lodge on the river.

Meals: Lunch & Dinner (Happy Hour) Today your adventure will begin at La Cruz, located near Turrialba (Transportation provided upon request). Our rafting crew will be waiting for you to get you ready for your rafting adventure. The rafting on the first day consists of some great Class II and Class III rapids along with stopping for a delicious lunch on the river prepared for you by your river guides/chefs. After lunch we will paddle another 40 minutes to the POC. Here you’ll take a 10 minute trek through the jungle to get to our Lodge and be blown away by the breath-taking views of the Pacuare River Canyon and surrounding mountains. Once you get settled you can enjoy the views or you can join us for our Tarzan Hour. We do this with all our groups at 4pm. During the Tarzan Hour we take you to our Tarzan Swing which is located in the same location as our Lodge and cabins and you get to experience one of the most adrenaline pumping Tarzan swings you will find in the Americas. This is a great activity for the afternoon and if your not up for the rush you can watch for our viewing area while enjoying a cup of coffee or simply relax at the lodge. In the evening we will have dinner prepared for you while you listen to the rainforest come to life as the sun dips and the night begins.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner (Happy Hour) Today you will wake up to the sun rising over the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. Our lodge has views in the morning directly down the canyon towards the Caribbean. The mornings offer the true essence of the rainforest as the mist rises off the mountains. You can spend the early morning sitting in the rocking chairs outside your cabin or come to our main area and get ready for another hearty Tico breakfast. Today we have a full day of fun and adventure. We will start out by doing five different ziplines that all run around the length of four football fields each. Not only are they long and fast but they offer the best views you will find anywhere of the Pacuare River. Then we will take a three minute hike back to the Lodge where we will have some lunch and an hour of down time. After lunch it is time to take a trek through the jungle to one of the most pristine waterfalls you will find at the Pacuare River. The best part of this adventure is it allows the kid in all of us to be released. When we arrive to the 25 foot edge looking out over the beautiful falls you would expect to hear “DON’T JUMP!”, well today its a little different. Your guide will show you the proper way to jump and land as you will learn there is only one way down! Welcome to one of our newest and favorite Adventures at the POC — Waterfall Jumping! In the evening it is full relax mode at the Lodge with a chance to reminisce about the full day of adventure.

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch

Get ready for a day of class IV rafting! This day is also the most scenic day of rafting in all of Costa Rica.

You will be rafting through canyon rock walls that rise straight up 200ft and pass by waterfalls that fall 150ft into the river. This truly is a magical day from start to finish.

Today you will be served another delicious lunch by your river guides.

After we take out of the river in the town of Siquirres you will have the chance to change and shower into some clean clothes and say farewell to your new family at the POC (Transportation provided upon request).

POC Camp

The POC camp is an extension of the POC lodge and while the POC Lodge is located with vast views of the Pacuare River Canyon the POC Camp is down on the river’s edge. While it might not have the view of the POC Lodge it sits on one of the calmest sections of the river making the POC Camp home to one of the river Pacuare’s best spots for taking a swim and relaxing on the river’s edge.

POCsito is a favorite among so many of our guests. It is a glamping experience with some of the important comforts of home.

POC Lodge

Started in 2011 is the POC lodge. If you haven’t figured it out by now POC lodge is our own lodge and what we like to call the “baby” of the P.O.C. Adventure Company. We wanted a lodge on our favorite part of Costa Rica which is the Pacuare River and with the help of locally harvested supplies and labor, the POC Lodge was born.

This is a 180-acre property that runs over 1 mile of the Pacuare River. Our goal has always been to offer as much comfort as possible without steering too far away from our roots of just roughing it on the river’s edge. Our lodge has hot water, a splash of luxury in the rooms, and 5-Star service and attention to our guests.

Our favorite part about the lodge is that we built a short hike up from the river’s edge. We know we have the best views of the Pacuare River canyon and unfortunately pictures don’t even do it justice.

Arenal Paraiso, Arenal

Have you ever wanted to stay the night at the base of an active volcano? Well here is your chance. The Arenal Paraiso is located at the base of the Arenal Volcano with breath-taking views of the perfectly cone-shaped volcano.

Here at Arenal Paraiso’s, you will enjoy the beautiful property which offers much more than just a view. The property has numerous bungalows that offer a splash of luxury while surrounded by lush tropical rainforest. After a day of adventure, you will love making your way back to relax or hang out in the pool at Arenal Paraiso.

Shawandha, Caribbean

Located at the edge of the white sandy beaches of Costa Rica sits the Shawandha lodge.  A perfect blend of eco-style luxury along with the sounds of the ocean and vibrant ambiance of the rainforest.

Shawandha lodge is set up with individual bungalows made out of local wood. You will be sure to wake up to the sound of the local residents such as the howler monkeys and green macaws. After your day of adventure, you will have a chance to relax and enjoy the beautiful swimming pool at the Shawandha Lodge.

Hotel Villa Florencia, Turrialba

Located in the valley of Turrialba surrounded by sugar-cane plantations and views of the smoking Turrialba Volcano sits an old plantation home that has been renovated into a beautiful small hotel named Villa Florencia.

This is a great hotel with a beautiful pool and plenty of space to take long morning or afternoon hikes. The Villa Florencia hotel is a chance to enjoy luxury while feeling like you stook back in time. While you are in the valley don’t forget to look up as the Turrialba Volcano can often be seen doing small eruptions from across the valley.

Casa Turire, Turrialba

Casa Turire has been one of our favorites since we started. The grounds are some of the lushest you will find anywhere in Costa Rica. Casa Turire sits in the valley of Turrialba surrounded by mountains and the beautiful Turrialba Volcano. The most amazing part about Casa Turire other than its great restaurant and home-made sugar cane ice cream is that it sits on a peninsula surrounded by Lake Angostura offering great morning hikes, birding, or SUPing around the lake.
